Talayna and Joe’s combined maternity and engagement session at Lake Diefenbaker was an absolute dream from start to finish. As a Saskatchewan photographer who lives for intentional love stories, golden hour light, and sweet belly laughs—I couldn’t have asked for a better evening with two of the kindest souls.

We carpooled out together (road trip vibes!), and I got the inside scoop on everything from their favourite music, to the books they’re into, and even a bit of their sweet love story. Spoiler alert: they actually had their first date in early high school, and eventually started dating later on. The full story? I’ll let them tell it at the wedding. I’m not about to give away their Netflix original plot line. 😂

We started our session at the Lake Diefenbaker marina, capturing those soft, peaceful moments as the sun started to dip low. Talayna, glowing with that magical mama-to-be energy, looked absolutely radiant. And Joe? The way he looked at her would melt anyone—he’s clearly so in love with her and this exciting next chapter.

From the marina, we made our way to the beach at Lake Diefenbaker for the most stunning golden hour photos, followed by a soft, moody blue hour that gave the perfect contrast to their joyful connection. This location is truly one of the best photo spots in Saskatchewan for beach engagement sessions and maternity sessions alike.

This was more than just a typical engagement or maternity shoot—it was a celebration of everything they’ve built and everything they’re about to step into together. From fiancé status to future parents… their journey is just beginning, and I’m so honoured I got to freeze a little slice of this in time.
